Massa-Marittima-
is a small and beautiful city of art of the Maremma, one of the most beautiful medieval towns of Tuscany, situated between metalliferous hills 400 meters above sea level, and only 20km from it. Today Massa Marittima is an important tourist destination in Maremma, walking in the village between the historic buildings are splendid open views over the countryside and down to the sea. Of exquisite beauty Piazza Garibaldi overlooked by the Cathedral of San Cerbone, the palace of the Podesta (XIII century), the palace of the Counts of Biserno and the Town Hall (XIV century) obtained by the incorporation of various houses and thirteenth century towers. Other interesting buildings are the Palace and the Fountain of Abundance, the old Mint, the door of Silici that divides the old city from the new city, the fortress of Siena, the Chandelier Tower (built in 1228), the Palace of weapons of 1443, the birthplace of San Bernardino, the church of San Pietro all'Orto of 1197, church of St. Francis of 1220, that of St. Augustine of XIV with its cloisters, that of S. Rocco of 1400 and the Bell Tower of 1627.
